2017 Blogging Recap: What I Learned from Blogging

Hi Friends! It’s been a long time since I posted anything on my blog. A lot has happened to me and it happened so quickly. Many of you know that I had a surgery in October 2017. It was a sudden surgery that it took me a while to get my life together. Hence, the reason I did not post any fashion blog or any post at all. I’m touch by the people who continue to support me through this time of my life. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are the reason I want to keep on blogging.

It all started January 1st, 2017 I woke up refresh and ready to take on my fashion blog journey for the year. I convinced my husband that he will be my photographer. We will take pictures and I will post them every week. We did this and remain committed. Rain or shine we took pictures and I posted them weekly.

Here’s what I’ve learned from blogging from the past year.

Blogging takes a lot of work! It doesn’t matter whether your blogging about fashion, beauty, food, travel, etc. Blogging is hard work. Lucky for me I enjoyed what I did and did not feel it being work. You might ask “Then why did you stop blogging?” my answer to that question; I did not stop blogging, I just took a break and got my life together.

Upon continuing my blogging journey, I am however will stop posting fashion blog. Yes! You read that right. I am stopping my fashion blog for the year. The reason for this is reflecting back to 2017, I spent a great deal of shopping for the sake of posting on my blog. You might say “well what’s wrong with that? Isn’t that every girl’s dream? To shop till you drop” My answer to that is; I thought so too.

Then, I had an epiphany while reflecting on my fashion blog. I love shopping, I am borderline “shopaholic,” but having my fashion blog made me realize that I don’t love it enough to have a fashion blog. I may find great deals and shop sale items, but it’s money I’m burning to fund my “hobby.” Although I am making an income from this “hobby” I can’t justify spending it all on clothing I will only wear once or twice.

Competition is real and to break the surface of the fashion world. One has to hustle real hard. I admire and respect each and every one who continues to hustle to reach their dream.

Through this journey, I met other bloggers who are talented, stylish, intelligent, amazing people and I am grateful to have met them.

What can you expect from Simply Street Chic moving forward? I will continue to blog about travel (which I will have a handful this year,) Mommy tips and review, and when I’m savvy enough I will share my budgeting and investment journey. I found through blogging that investing intrigues me and I find it fascinating how people become financially free. My goal is to be financially free before I turn forty and I’m currently twenty-eight.

I want to take you on my life’s journey not just through fashion post, but how I see life in front of me. I’m still gathering some courage on filming my self in front of a camera and making a video for you to watch. I may say a lot through a blog post, but in front of a camera, I’m speechless with shaking hands and feet.

Until next post. I hope you enjoyed reading this. Please let me know what you want to read or see in my future blog post. I can’t thank you enough for the love and support you have given me. Simply Street Chic lives on because you believed in me.
